Hayakawa Shokosai I made many Japanese bamboo baskets during the Meiji period in Japan. He was one of the first to sign the baskets he made. Baskets made by Hayakawa Shokosai I are even more valuable now. His family after him, followed him in the tradition, and Hayakawa Shokosai V has been named a Living National Treasure by the Japanese government.

Other famous Japanese bamboo artists include Tanabe Chikuunsai, Shono Shounsai, Yaka Hodo and Kajiwara Aya.

Wonderful!Didn’t know that you can actually be an artist in this bamboo matter. But,I guess artists can adjust to just about any area.
